Vosch reveals that he is but one of roughly a dozen Silencers that know the 'truth' about it and the waves. It is basically an alien computer center. In actuality, the aliens were made to think they were aliens, downloaded into infant humans and activated once reaching puberty. The Others began their assault on humanity first by unleashing a massive EMP that disabled all electronic technology worldwide.
